- Clean your home with Non-Toxic, Natural Cleaning Products. They are available at your local grocery, hardware and health food stores. Just about anything can be cleaned with White Vinegar and Baking Soda. Using Newspaper and a Non-Toxic Window Cleaner or White Vinegar and water to clean windows will eliminate streaking
- Buy Locally. Buy locally grown food that is in season. Fool that hasn’t traveled thousands of miles to your plate is fresher, tastier and drastically cuts down on pollution.
- Antiseptic/Deodorizer. Lemon juice is a great choice for deodorizing counters, cutting boards, and more. The acid in lemon juice kills mold, bacteria, and germs. While not a 100 percent kill rate, you can’t sterilize your house anyway, so if you look at lemon juice as a solidly good deodorizer you will turn to it when you don’t need a hospital-level disinfectant job.
- Conserve Water. Remember the smallest leak can add more than $5 per month to your water and sewer bill. Fixing leaks saves both water and money. A leaky faucet potentially can waste more than 3,000 gallons of water a month or about $170 a year.
- Don't Waste Paper. Buy Paper Products that are made from post-consumer waste. Recycle your paper when using your copier at home and work. Use shredded newspaper for packing material when shipping packages.

Mold
More than just an eyesore, over 80 strains of mold have been associated with respiratory tract disorders. With the health risks posed by a pesky mold problem, getting rid of furry patches should be top priority. Fortunately, you likely have a potent mold eliminator under the kitchen sink--straight vinegar. Undiluted white vinegar kills 82 percent of mold strains, enough for most problems. Fill a spray bottle, saturate the area, and let it sit. The smell will be a bit harsh, but it typically clears out in a few hours, taking the unsightly respiratory tract-threatening brown patch with it.
For more resilient mold colonies, try a mixture of two teaspoons of tea tree oil and two cups of water. The smell can be overwhelming, and will linger for a few days, but tea tree oil works when nothing else will. Nearly as effective as tea tree oil, grapefruit seed extract (20 drops mixed with two cups of water) will do the trick without the smell.
